Battery and charging repair

A battery that lasts an hour, shuts the laptop down at 30% or has swollen up needs replacing. A swollen battery should be dealt with quickly: it can crack the case and lift the trackpad.

If the laptop won’t charge at all, the fault can be the charger, the port or the charging circuit on the board. We test each one before quoting.

Questions we get asked

Is a swollen battery dangerous?

It can be. Stop using and charging the laptop, keep it somewhere cool, and bring it in. Don’t press on the bulge.

How much is a new battery?

Fitting is £185 + VAT plus the battery for your model, which we quote when we know it.

Why won’t my laptop charge?

Common causes are a failed charger, a worn port or a fault in the charging circuit. A tear-down assessment (£45 + VAT) tells us which.
