Overheating and fan repair

Dust builds up in the fan and heatsink, the thermal paste dries out, and the laptop runs hotter and louder until it slows down or switches off.

We strip it, clean the cooling system, renew the thermal paste, replace a failing fan and test it under load. Gaming laptops need this more often than most.

Questions we get asked

How often should a laptop be cleaned inside?

Every couple of years for most laptops, more often for gaming laptops or homes with pets.

Will a cooling pad fix it?

It can help a little, but it won’t clear dust from inside the heatsink.

How much is a service?

£185 + VAT, plus a fan if one needs replacing.
